Hydropower. |
| Accounting for 60 percent
of total power production, hydropower is Switzerland’s
most important energy source. And, under the
strategy
of the Federal Office for Energy, Environment, Traffic and Communications
(UVEK), this looks likely to continue in future. Although hydropower
is an environmentally benign means of generating power, some minor
disadvantages result from its interference in nature. An international
aid program has been set up to offset these. |
